Ansel Adams Gallery at Yosemite Valley
We all adore the breathtakingly beautiful photographs of the Sierras; however, there is one person that has captured the spirit and beauty of the region better then anyone else. His name is Ansel Adams. Both avid photographers, Alan and I have been admiring his work ever since first seeing them. Alan is especially obsessed with figuring out the exact location of where the picture was taken from. We love the Sierras, but he is passionate about them in a way that is just so man like. He has to know the exact names of the peaks and possibly the height as well as opposed to me who is interested in these facts but won't study them. In any case, Ansel Adams has been a hero of ours for quite a while now, and we encourage everybody to check out his work at the Yosemite Gallery. Just be careful because you might end up having to schlep a piece of his art with you for the rest of your trip. You sure wouldn't be the first one to do so, so maybe it is a good idea to ship or plan your visit toward the end of your stay.
The Gallery runs many workshops and events throughout the year. Unfortunately, most of these workshops are rather expensive and the times offered are somewhat limited. However, the Gallery does offer some events that are free of charge such as a free Friday night viewing of the "Ansel Adams, Photograper Movie". If you find yourself in Yosemite Valley, this place is definitely worth a stroll through, and it offers a great alternative for your rest days. Make sure to bring your camera as his photographs will motivate you to go out and start shooting on your own. Have fun and feel free to share your photos with us!
